A Study on Nursing Care Process Approach to Quality of Nursing Care Through Nursing Audit


Abstract
This nursing audit study attempted to evaluated quality of nursing care in terms of nursing process evaluation. The subjects consisted of 90 cases discharged from medical, surgical, and intensive care unit of a university hospital from August 1
to
August 31, 1992. Nursing audit done for the 7 days of hospitalization and the results are as follows;
1) High scores were obtained from the nursing the records documenting the care provided for the patient and assessment of the patient conditions on admission. And the criteia of the patient health education and of inclusion of patient's family
in
nursing process revealed low scores.
2) Quality evaluation by units showed low scores in the medical unit on the criteria of documentation after nursing care and evaluation of the patient's response to the treatment. The criteria of physical hygiene related to physician's
prescription
showed the low scores which were statistically significant.
3) Mean quality scores by type of unit were significantly low in the medical unit
4) Quality scores by type of patients showed low scores on self-care patient of the criteria of nursing care documentation and evaluation of patient response.
5) analysis of quality scores showed a low degree of correlation between nuring planning and physical nonphysical nursing care. Also, the correlation between nursing evaluation ad phyical nonphyical nursing care was low.
